Google UK has sealed the deal for 160,000 sq ft of offices in the West End at the Central Saint Giles development. The West End offices are spread across the fourth, fifth and ninth floors, as well as parts of levels three and six.

West End offices have been taken up by a US company at a price of £97.50 per sq ft. York Capital Management has signed a deal to move into 23 Savile Row in London. More than 7,600 sq ft of West End offices have been acquired by the hedge fund, with the contract including 12 months rent free.

Colliers International’s Central London Offices Report for Q1 2011 has shown that the availability of Grade A office space in the West End fell by 20% quarter on quarter with a further 335,000 sq ft under offer.

Mayor of London, Boris Johnston, Westminster City Council and West End retailers have joined forces to launch two new initiatives aimed at boosting trade in London’s Oxford Street. Coming after results showed a 4.1% year on year drop in sales in the West End during March, plans have been announced to introduce two additional traffic free days in December. These will include the biggest shopping day of the year, Boxing Day and the weekend of 10th and 11th December.
